In response to the current climate situation, the COVID 19 pandemic and the economic crisis, we are introducing a new specialization called 'Sustainable Development Economics'.
The aim of the specialization is to familiarize students with the challenges that the global economy must face in the coming years and to introduce students to the green economic transformation currently underway in the world and in the European Union based on innovation and the European Green Deal strategy.
Under the new EU budget perspective, Poland will receive approximately EUR 139 billion in subsidies and EUR 34 billion in loans, of which at least a third will have to be allocated to the implementation of the European Green Deal Strategy, i.e. projects supporting sustainable and pro-climate development and supporting economic recovery after the pandemic Covid 19. This means revolutionary changes in the economy, both in the private and public sectors. Green transformation is inevitable and will have an increasing impact on the labor market. About 4 million green jobs have been created in Europe in the last decade. In the coming years, we will experience a dynamic increase in demand for, among others, specialists in the implementation of pro-climate innovations, eco-financiers, managers of public programs or managers managing change.
Thanks to this specialization:
- you will learn what the concept of Circular Economy is about and how to apply it in economic practice,
- you will learn what a well-managed, socially and environmentally responsible business and economic model should look like,
- you will learn about the latest trends in energy and electromobility,
- you will learn how to be an active participant and creator of a sustainable economy based on knowledge and innovation,
- you will learn about the possibilities and methods of external financing of green transformation in business,
- what the decision-making processes for shaping climate policies in Poland and around the world look like and how to use this knowledge in business practice.
