Major description

Healthcare administration - a specialty dedicated to people related to health care, including medical professionals, administrative employees, staff employed in legal departments, employees of supervision and control departments, management staff, people dealing with internal services for entities performing medical activities, and also for people interested and linking their professional future with the issues of administration and management of entities performing medical activities.

The main goal of the studies is to familiarize students with the mechanisms of administering health care units, with particular emphasis on the optimization of implemented activities and ensuring the maximum level of quality and safety of people receiving health services. The above goals constitute a continuum of the legislator's assumptions expressed in the draft act on the modernization and improvement of the efficiency of hospitality, as well as the act on quality in health care.

Studies in "Healthcare administration" are the first of its kind on the educational market, which combines elements of classical administrative, civil and financial law with issues pertaining to medical law.

People specializing in administrative, civil and medical law, with both academic and practical experience, were engaged to conduct the studies.

As a 'healthcare administration' student:

Students participating in "healthcare administration" studies will have the opportunity to learn about the following topics:

  • administrative issues, including elements of substantive and procedural administrative law,
  • issues related to public procurement law,
  • issues related to the basic mechanisms of performing medical activities,
  • the rules for administering health care units conducting medical activity with the use of teleinformatic media,
  • the principles of spending public funds and compliance with the provisions of the Public Finance Act.

The process of theoretical education will be supported by the case study method, which allows to develop practical skills necessary to use theoretical knowledge in the implementation of administrative and management activities.


Completion of studies in "Healthcare administration" will result in a comprehensive supplementation of the current education, as well as the acquisition of knowledge and skills allowing to initiate new paths of professional development.

Graduates of the studies may apply for employment, inter alia, in the following entities:

  • health care units,
  • supervision and control units for the performance of medical activities,
  • financial supervision units,
  • central government administration bodies, including the office of the Ombudsman for Patients' Rights,
  • state organizational units, including the National Health Fund,
  • entities performing administrative tasks on the basis of outsourcing.

Regardless of the possibilities presented, Graduates have the possibility of professional development in commercial structures, as well as structures supporting the development and promotion of health protection.
